We have vast experience with various competition law related issues.
In connection with unfair competition and the unfair influencing of consumer decisions, we have issued a number of legal opinions primarily to multinational and Hungarian consumer product manufacturers, for example to alcohol and beverage companies, cosmetic and chemical producers, in connection with the relevant competition law issues which arose during the course of the advertising of such products.
The Firm represented one of the leading coffee producer and trading companies in the so-called A "Coffee Cartel" case, in connection with an investigation procedure initiated by the Office of Economic Competition and more specifically against the injunction issued as a result of the alleged non-compliance with the prohibition against cartel behavior. The Firm also has represented clients in connection with appeals filed against decisions issued by the Office of Economic Competition.
The Firm also has represented a leading Hungarian pharmaceutical company in a lawsuit, the subject of which was a claim against prohibited advertising practices.
The Firm represents Hungarian and - with respect to the extraterritorial effect - foreign clients in numerous cases in connection with obtaining the required merger control consents relating to mergers and acquisitions. The Firm recently assisted with a deal in the course of which two worldwide oil companies merged. The Firm also regularly acts on behalf of regional electricity suppliers in connection with acquisitions and related merger control consent procedures.
